INGREDIENTS
– 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 tsp baking soda
– 1/2 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 1/2 cups sugar
– 1 large egg
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– 3 tbsp milk
– Extra sugar for rolling
DIRECTIONS
1. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in egg, vanilla extract, and milk.
4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
5. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour (this prevents spreading).
6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
7. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.
8. Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart and lightly flatten with your palm.
9. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
10. Cool on the sheet 2 minutes, then move to a wire rack.
Perfectly soft, chewy, and ideal for decorating!
