    By Biteful Kitchen

A classic comfort dish with tender pasta smothered in a rich, creamy cheese sauce, topped with golden breadcrumbs. Perfect for family dinners, gatherings, or when you crave warm, cheesy goodness.

    Quick Facts

    • Prep Time: 15 minutes

    • Cook Time: 30 minutes

    • Total Time: 45 minutes

    • Servings: 6

    Ingredients

    Pasta and Sauce Base:

    • 8 ounces elbow macaroni (about 2 cups)

    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

    • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    • 2 cups whole milk

    • 1 cup heavy cream

    Cheese Blend:

    • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

    • Salt and pepper to taste

    • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)

    Topping:

    • ½ cup breadcrumbs

    • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

    • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.

    2. Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

    3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.

    4. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, stirring constantly until smooth and slightly thickened, about 3–4 minutes.

    5. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan until melted. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

    6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until evenly coated. Pour into the prepared baking dish.

    7. Combine breadcrumbs, melted butter, and Parmesan in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over the macaroni.

    8. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

    Chef’s Tips

    • Mix different cheeses for more flavor depth — Gruyère or Monterey Jack work beautifully.

    • Add crispy bacon or caramelized onions for a heartier twist.

    • For a creamier texture, stir in an extra ¼ cup of milk before baking.
